We provide a comprehensive induction programme before the start of the new school year, to help smooth the transition between schools.
New Year 7 and Year 9 pupils are invited to attend an induction day (in June). This provides pupils with the opportunity to meet their form tutors and classmates, to familiarise themselves with the layout and set-up of the School and to get to know staff who are to play a large role in their future here. Parents are invited to join their child(ren) towards the end of the day to learn more about the School, meet their son or daughter’s form tutors and to find out about travel options to and from school. You can also view samples of the school uniform.
An Induction day in September (for Year 7, Year 9 and Lower Sixth) is where pupils start to build friendships – many of which will last through adulthood. They will also begin to discover the routines of school life at the Upper and to work with their tutors on one or two of the practicalities of a new term.
Year 7 pupils can also take part in a Linking Project to help bridge the gap between their primary and secondary education
Travelling to school
We encourage the use of public transport to travel to school, and many pupils take advantage of the excellent rail services (we are a 15-minute walk or short bus journey from Cambridge station). Students travelling to the School by train can also apply online for a free ‘Student Connect’ card, which gives them discounts when purchasing their season ticket online. For more information about this card, please visit http://www.thameslinkrailway.com/tickets-and-fares/student-connect/ .
We have secure bike storage – note that students must wear a cycle helmet and wear high visibility clothing when cycling to and from school.
We also provide minibus pick-ups from:
- Cambridge Park and Ride sites (Trumpington, Babraham and Madingley Road) to the Prep and Upper
- Cambridge railway station to the Prep
These shuttle bus services cost £25 per student, per term.
